FINDER / START WITH A QUESTION

# The data you need starts with a question.

Start with available data, check a product link, or describe a missing dataset. See what makes a useful brief and what Finder can help you do today.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT NEXT STEP

## Find what exists. Describe what is missing.

A clear request names the records you need and how you intend to compare them. Start with the catalogue, then separate a missing dataset from a research question that needs a new approach.

Available

### Search existing data

Look for a dataset, product link or SKU. Review its availability, fields, coverage, freshness and rate before deciding whether it fits.

[Browse the catalogue](https://rewalto.com/data#catalogue)

Request intake available

### Record a missing data need

Describe the fields, geography and period missing from the catalogue. Registering demand helps identify gaps; it does not guarantee delivery or start paid work.

### Scope a new research question

Outline the question, likely sources and evidence you would accept. Autonomous research and new-source delivery are not available yet.

EXAMPLE BRIEFS

## Ask a question someone can verify.

These are writing guides, not completed searches or promised datasets. Replace the scope with your own requirements. Keep personal contact details out of a data request.

### Compare selected product listings

Find listed prices and availability for a defined product set across selected commerce sources.

Requested fields
: Product title, pack size, source, pin code, listed price, availability and check date.

Geography
: Specify the pin codes you need, rather than asking for every location.

Period
: Give a date range and say whether a latest check or a historical comparison is needed.

Before using the result
: Can the same product and pack size be matched? Which sources and locations are actually covered?

### Build a company research shortlist

Find public company records relevant to a defined sector and region.

Requested fields
: Company name, sector, region, public website, source and date where available.

Geography
: Name the city, state or country and any exclusions.

Period
: State whether you need current details or records from a particular period.

Before using the result
: Which fields are supported by public evidence? Which details remain unknown?

### Find a public document set

Locate public documents that address a specific subject or named organisation.

Requested fields
: Document title, publishing body, publication date, source link and the relevant section where available.

Geography
: Name the relevant jurisdiction or issuing authority.

Period
: Specify publication dates and whether superseded versions should be included.

Before using the result
: Does each document answer the question? Is its publication date different from its effective date?

WHAT A USEFUL RESULT NEEDS

## The answer matters. So does what it can support.

Evaluate a matching dataset before requesting its records. An empty search is a coverage gap to investigate, not proof that the underlying information does not exist.

- ### Fields that answer the question

Check the actual columns and definitions. A similar dataset name does not guarantee the required fields.
- ### A clear place and period

Confirm locations, collection dates and whether historical records cover the time you need.
- ### Sources you can inspect

Keep source references and relevant dates so another reader can assess the evidence.
- ### Visible gaps and a clear cost

Unknown values stay unknown. Review the published rate or approve a quote before a separate paid data request starts.

SAME DATA / SAME PRINCIPLE

## Pay for the data. Keep the context.

Tool work is free. Review the rate or quote before a run. For recurring deliveries, review both the per-delivery and monthly cost first.

QUICK ANSWERS

## Questions people ask.

What is Finder?+

Finder is where you search the data Rewalto already holds, check a product link, or describe a dataset that is missing from the catalogue.

Does a request guarantee delivery?+

No. Registering a missing data need helps Rewalto see the gap. It does not guarantee delivery or start paid work.

Is research on a new question available?+

Not yet. You can outline the question and the evidence you would accept, but scoping new research is not offered yet.

PUT THE EVIDENCE TO WORK

## Turn an open question into a bounded data request

### Include the output, not only the topic

An effective Finder question names the records, required fields, geography and time period. For example: “Find organisation-level profiles for companies in this sector and state, with website and source date.” Add exclusions and explain which decision the result will support. Avoid requesting personal contact details when organisation-level research answers the question.

### Review matches and gaps

Before treating a match as usable, check what the source actually establishes, the covered period and any missing fields. A company name match may need an identifier check. A recent collection date may refer to an older document. A source gap should be explained rather than filled with an inferred fact.

### Choose what happens after discovery

Use a dataset when structured records are enough. Turn a defined analytical question into a report, or a repeatable change condition into a watch. Use the examples here to prepare a focused brief. Catalogue search and recording a missing-data request are available in Finder. Watches are live: a watch checks on its own schedule and sends an alert when something changes. Automated research is coming soon.
