How these figures are made

We read public product pages on named apps, about once a day, at named pin codes. Each listing at each pin code counts once per day4, using its last in-stock reading of the day. The period is the seven days to 23 Oct 2026.

Discount = 1 − price ÷ MRP, in whole percent, for readings at or under MRP
Steady discount = daily discount within 3 points across at least 4 days

A page appears only when its slice clears the same floors as MRP compliance. A median discount above 60% for an app or category is held and checked before it is shown. Figures are per app and are never averaged across apps. Read the full method.

Questions

Questions people ask about this report

Is a deeper discount better?

This report does not say so. A deeper discount is a fact about price, not a mark of quality, so nothing here is scored or ordered by discount.

Are coupons and bank offers included?

No. The price is the selling price shown to a shopper on the listing, before coupons, bank offers, membership prices and delivery fees.

What is a steady discount?

A listing whose daily discount stayed within 3 percentage points across the period. The report says how many listings that was judged on.

Why is there no page for each product?

A product’s price, MRP and discount are on its MRP compliance page. A second page per product would repeat it.

Why is an app or category missing?

It did not clear a floor for enough days, products or pin codes in the period. The type page lists every slice that was left out and why. Nothing is estimated.

Notes

  1. The median discount: half of the readings are discounted by less than this and half by more. Discount is 1 minus price divided by MRP, in whole percent, for readings at or under MRP. Readings with no MRP are left out. Back
  2. The middle half runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile: half of all readings fall between these two discounts. Back
  3. A listing has a steady discount when its daily discount stayed within 3 percentage points across the period. Counted only for listings seen on at least 4 days with an MRP, so the percentage is of those listings, and the count is shown. Back
  4. A reading is one listing at one pin code on one day: the last time we saw it in stock (or, where an app shows no stock, the last time we saw it) that day. Prices are the selling price shown to a shopper, before coupons, bank offers, membership prices and delivery fees. Back
