Swiggy Instamart vs BigBasket dark stores, by city

Both apps have stores in 79 cities; in 13 of them the counts are level. Source: Rewalto’s dark-store map, counted 31 Oct 2026. BigBasket also delivers to 12,467 named areas (BB Now delivery areas), shown apart: an area is not a store, and none is in these counts.

A dark store here is an open store that Rewalto’s own weekly sweeps found on the app, with every source merged into one record per store, counted by the city it was found in. JioMart stores that fill quick orders are counted as stores. BigBasket’s BB Now delivery areas are named areas, not stores, so they are never added to a store count. A store with no known city is in the app’s total but in no city row. An app can run stores our sweeps have not found yet, so a count is a floor, not a census.

The store records, with the pin codes each store serves, are the dark-store map dataset: through the dashboard, the API (GET /v1/data/dark-stores), the command line or the MCP server (preview). Credits are charged only for stores delivered.
