MAP monitoring, the way pricing works in India.
In India the legal price line is the MRP, not a US-style minimum advertised price. So the questions are: how far below MRP each app sells, whether the same product costs the same on every app and pin code, and whether you can prove it. Rewalto records each of those. A price floor and alert are still in build.
Price and how to buy
Price discipline is harder to see than it looks
A product sold on five apps, in dozens of pin codes, has hundreds of selling prices. Some sit at MRP, most sit below it, and some drift further from the rest of the market than your team would ever choose. The retailer’s buyer will not call you about it. Your distributor will not either.
A brand that wants consistent prices needs three things it rarely has: the price on each app and pin code, how far it sits below MRP, and its source to show whoever owns that listing.
Depth below MRP
How far each app sells below the printed price, by pin code.
Same product, same price?
The same pack across apps, and across pin codes inside one app.
The source
The page address, the time it was read and the text the figure came from, to send to whoever owns it.
How Rewalto does it
- STEP 1
You choose the products
Your products, the apps you sell on and the pin codes that matter. We match each to its listing on every app.
- STEP 2
We record price and MRP
We open each retailer's page as a shopper would, record the selling price and MRP, and keep the page address and the time.
- STEP 3
You compare with your own line
Sort by depth below MRP, compare apps and pin codes, and download the file to check against your own price policy.
Depth below MRP, from real readings
The shorter bar is what a shopper paid and the longer bar is the MRP. These are real readings, so you can see what the record holds before you ask for your own.
The brand and product names are invented, and this is a capture, not a live reading.
Two parity checks, and what a row looks like
The tables below are invented, to show the shape of what you would see. Every real row names a product, an app and a pin code, and points to its source.
The same pack, priced differently on each app
A brand that wants one consistent price can see which app sits furthest from the rest.
A cross-app match is labelled when a person has not yet confirmed it is the same product and pack.
| App | Below MRP | Against the lowest | Match | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| App A | 31.0% | Lowest | Reviewed | Source |
| App B | 24.0% | +10.1% | Reviewed | Source |
| App C | 12.0% | +27.5% | Not yet reviewed | Source |
Invented data, to show the shape of the output.
One app, different prices in different pin codes
Dark stores can price separately, so parity has to be checked where the shelf is set.
This is read only where an app is read pin code by pin code, which today is mainly Blinkit and Tata 1mg.
| City | Pin code | Below MRP | Readings | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai | 400013 | 22.0% | 9 | Source |
| Pune | 411001 | 22.0% | 8 | Source |
| Bengaluru | 560001 | 31.0% | 6 | Source |
Invented data, to show the shape of the output.
What you can do with it today
Rewalto shows the price it read. What counts as too low is your call.
Check your own price line
Download the readings and compare selling price with the floor your policy sets. The comparison is yours; the readings and their sources are ours.
Take a row to a retailer
A product, an app, a pin code, a price and its source. Better than a screenshot from somebody's phone.
Watch the spread
See which apps and pin codes sit furthest from the rest, and whether that gap is new.
What we measure today, and what is still in build
Checked against the live record and the 10-Minute Shelf reports plan. Where a row says Partial, In build or Not offered, the page does not claim more than that.
| What | Status today | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| MRP on the listing | Live | Read with every price. A listing with no MRP is counted as missing, never as a zero. |
| Depth below MRP | Live | Selling price against MRP, per row, by app and pin code. |
| Parity across apps | Partial | Needs a match between listings. Matches are labelled as not yet reviewed by hand until they are. |
| Parity across pin codes | Partial | Only where an app is read pin code by pin code, mainly Blinkit and Tata 1mg today. |
| A price above MRP | Not offered | MRP is a legal ceiling. In the readings checked, rows that looked above MRP were a missing MRP read as zero, so we do not sell it. |
| Your own price floor, violation list and alerts | In build | Not in service. There is no floor or alert rule yet. Today you compare the file with your own line. |
| Public MRP-compliance reports | In build | Being built in The 10-Minute Shelf, which will hold the market-level figures. This page does not repeat them. |
| Seller name and buy-box winner | Not offered | We do not read who sells a listing, and we do not publish seller names. |

Questions before you start
Does minimum advertised price monitoring work in India?
The idea does, the legal instrument does not. In India the legal price line is the MRP printed on the pack. A minimum advertised price is a brand's own policy. So we scope this to what a brand can check: how far below MRP each app sells, and whether the same product is priced consistently across apps and pin codes.
Can I set a price floor and get a list of violations?
Not yet. A floor, a threshold and a violation list are in build and are not in service. Today Rewalto records the selling price, the MRP, the app, the pin code and the time, with the retailer's page address, and you compare it with your own floor in the file.
Can you show a retailer selling above MRP?
No. In the readings we have checked, the only rows that looked like a price above MRP were a missing MRP read as zero, which is a data error and not a breach. We do not sell an above-MRP finding.
Do you tell me which seller set a price?
No. We do not read seller names or the buy-box winner, and we do not plan to publish seller names. We show the price on the listing and the page it came from.
How is price parity measured?
By comparing the selling price of the same product and pack across apps, and across pin codes inside one app. Pin-code parity is only read where an app is read pin code by pin code, which today is mainly Blinkit and Tata 1mg. A cross-app match is labelled as a match we have not reviewed by hand.
Can I try it on my own products?
Yes. Create a free account, with no card, and search any product for a free preview of 10 rows. You get 1,000 credits a month, one weekly watch, and a plain statement of what we cannot read.
Start with your products and a pin code.
We’ll show the price and MRP we can already read, and tell you plainly what we cannot. Enterprise teams who want to shape the price-floor feature can book a call.
